§ 13-3. Curfew authorized.

  • (a)

    When he or they deem it expedient and necessary for the preservation of the public peace and morals, for the suppression of riots and disorderly assemblies and for the order and government of the city, the mayor or a majority of the city commission shall have the duty to impose a curfew setting times during which persons may not go abroad in the city limits except such persons as are required by reason of employment or work conditions, or medical or other genuine emergency, or have specific exemption by the mayor or a majority of the city commission, due to good and substantial reason for such exemption to be abroad; any curfew so imposed shall be set forth in writing, signed by the mayor or a majority of the city commission, and the original or a signed and sealed copy thereof shall be kept with the minutes of city commission meetings.

    (b)

    Any person violating a curfew so imposed shall be punished as provided in section 1-7.
